Volunteer with Southern Pines!
Hundreds of dedicated individuals help Southern Pines Animal Shelter care for homeless pets by participating in kennel enrichment, socializing cats, counseling adopters and performing numerous other tasks at our shelter, as well as offsite events. Please note that all volunteers must be 18 years or older to help at Southern Pines unless accompanied by an adult.
Follow Southern Pines Animal Shelter on Facebook, and stay tuned to this page as our new volunteer program rolls out and more information is made available. |
Where do I start?
All volunteers must attend an orientation before volunteering at Southern Pines. Orientation is fully online! Once you've completed orientation, you can schedule your first volunteer shift. Access our orientation and all of our opportunities via our GivePulse page below. New volunteers will get a tour of the shelter, an overview of shelter operations and policy, and a better idea of the volunteer opportunities that we have available. For more information or questions, please give our Community Engagement Manager a call at 601.544.6632 or email [email protected].

At Southern Pines, we have a variety of volunteer opportunities and positions to fit the varying needs, interests, and schedules of the pets and people in our community. Check out a few of those opportunities below. Questions, concerns, or ideas? Send us an email at [email protected]!
Team Toe Beans
We're looking for volunteers to join Team Toe Beans, our crew of professional cat cuddlers that care for our adoptable cats and kittens at PetSmart. With so many cats and kittens coming through the shelter, our PetSmart enclosures have been staying full which means more cats that need snugglin' and care.
Team Toe Beans ensures that our feline friends have cozy, clean enclosures while they wait for adoption. There are multiple shifts a day, and all supplies are provided. Click the link below for more information! |
EmBark Pit Crew
The EmBark Pit Crew, our elite crew of transport drivers, is recruiting new members. Our calendar is filling up quickly with lots of transport trips all over the country which means lots of chances for you to grab a friend and hit the road! The shelter covers the cost of gas, lodging, and a per diem for drivers, so all you have to worry about is perfecting your road trip playlist. The best part? You're helping to save the lives of dozens of pets all in one trip.
To join the crew and stay up to date, text EMBARK to 844-701-0472. Standard text messaging rates apply. |
Adoption Events & Donation Drives
There's no better feeling than helping one of our shelter pets head home with their loving family! As an event volunteer, you can help make the magic happen by connecting with our community.
In addition to adoption events, we hold various donation drives and stuff the bus events throughout the year to help keep our shelves stocked with food and supplies. To sign up, check out the GivePulse event below or email [email protected]! |
