Available Dogs in the Program

To view dogs available for Dog's Day Out, follow the process outlined in the video below, but select "Dog's Day Out" instead of "Needs Foster" under the attributes button.

  1. Go to the Adoptable Dogs page on the Southern Pines website.
  2. Click the "Attributes" button and select "Dog's Day Out" from the drop down list.
  3. Ta-da! The site will now generate a list of all of our eligible dogs!
While you're out on your adventure, be sure to take lots of photos and videos of your new best bud enjoying their day out! We love sharing these photos on the dog's profile so that potential adopters can see how adorable and excited they are. Once you've returned your adventure buddy to the shelter, text your photos to 601-283-8757 and complete the Dog's Day Out survey!
Are you a dog lover that lives in a house or apartment that doesn't allow pets? Or do you live on campus but crave canine kisses? Have you been looking for a friend and some motivation to get out on the Longleaf Trace for a walk? It sounds like the Dog Day Out Program is just what the dogtor ordered!

This exciting program allows you to come by Southern Pines and check out a dog for an hour or the whole day! You get doggo cuddles, and they get some much-needed time out of their kennel. You'll get to learn about your new friend while bonding over a puppuccino, a nap, or even a swim in the backyard pool. You can even use these guys to help you get the most adorable Instagram photo ever! (Trust us, they don't mind!) The amount of fun you have is up to you!
To participate in Dog's Day Out, all you need to do is stop by the shelter during our business hours (12-5pm daily, closed Wednesdays), and we'll help you pick out the right pal for your adventure! This program is always free, and it's the most fun way to complete volunteer hours. Once you've completed the sign up form below, you're welcome to pop in to the shelter anytime!
