Rescue Raffle: Win the Chance to Adopt Bear!

January 9, 2026 @ 12:00pm - January 16, 2026 @ 1:00pm

IF YOU ARE INTERESTED IN ADOPTING BEAR, PLEASE READ THE WHOLE POST!

--
ONE (1) RAFFLE TICKET = ONE (1) CHANCE FOR AN ADOPTION APPOINTMENT.
--
Some dogs just quietly settle into your life as if they’ve always belonged there, and Bear is exactly that kind of dog. Bear’s foster shared this about him:

"One thing about Bear is that he makes himself right at home wherever he is. The first time I sat him down in my office, he plopped right down on the couch and splooted and patiently watched me work. Despite the new surroundings, he didn't make a peep the entire day-- as people and animals came and went, he just watched quietly and curiously. He's much the same at home.

"At 11 months old, he's crate trained and mostly house trained (just needs a little time to get used to his new surroundings). He gets along famously with the many dogs he's met so far. He is quiet and affectionate, and he loves to curl up in a lap. But what he loves even more than a lap is to lay his head on a pillow like a human. He sleeps through the night, whether in the bed or in his crate, and he's so calm and easy to chill with throughout the day-- except the short periods where he gets all his wildchild energy out. During those times, he's on the hunt for a sock to steal or a hand to gently nibble, but he wears himself out quickly and snuggles back up for a nap.

"Bear is truly such a sweet little soul, with a personality maybe even more wonderful than his adorable little face.

"I've fostered hundreds of pups over the years, and they're all special in their own way. But Bear just has that je ne sais quoi. He's going to make someone or some family an absolutely incredible, once in a lifetime companion, and I just can't wait to see how loved he is!"

BEFORE YOU EMAIL OR CALL ABOUT ADOPTING HIM, PLEASE KEEP READING...
Highly desirable pets like Bear often result in hundreds of phone calls, messages, and emails to our shelter that we unfortunately do not have the manpower to accommodate. This raffle will be the only way that Bear will be available for adoption.

MORE ABOUT BEAR
Bear has a Grade 1 luxating patella, which is very common in small breed dogs. It simply means one of his kneecaps can occasionally slide slightly out of place. Many dogs with this mild condition live completely normal, active lives. Bear's is currently well-managed with things like maintaining a healthy weight, regular low-impact exercise, and joint supplements.

Cavalier King Charles Spaniels are a wonderful, affectionate breed, but like many purebred dogs, they can be prone to a few common medical conditions. These may include heart issues such as mitral valve disease, joint concerns like patellar luxation, ear infections due to their long ears, and occasional eye conditions. Not every Cavalier will experience these issues, but being aware of them helps adopters plan for routine veterinary care, preventative monitoring, and a healthy lifestyle. With regular checkups and good care, many Cavaliers live happy, comfortable lives well into their senior years. We always encourage potential adopters to do a bit of research on the breed before adopting, so they feel confident and prepared to provide the best possible care.

WHAT IS THE PURPOSE OF OUR RESCUE RAFFLE?
Rescue Raffle is a fundraising event that benefits all of our residents at the shelter--from longtimers like Dodger, to puppies like Orchid who are not feeling their best--helping them get the care they need so they can find the loving homes they deserve.

It costs our shelter an average of $500 per pet to get them ready for adoption. From providing medical care, spay/neuter surgery, food, shelter, love, and so much more-most of our adoption fees are much lower than the investment we put into our pets to help them find health, happiness, and loving homes of their very own. This raffle and Bear’s adoption fee help us continue our mission to help pets in need and help us continue to give every pet in our care their best chance at a new beginning.

SO WHAT ARE YOU ENTERING TO WIN WHEN YOU PURCHASE RESCUE RAFFLE TICKETS?
Please note, we are NOT raffling off Bear, rather we are raffling off the first  chance--an adoption appointment--to meet him. give.southernpinesanimalshelter.org/event/rescue-raffle/e7587501 (One) Raffle Ticket = 1 (One) chance to win an adoption appointment.

This means the individual who wins the raffle will be first in line to meet Bear and decide whether or not he may be a good fit for their family. We will also draw a runner up, in the event that the first adoption appointment does not result in adoption. Participating in this raffle will be the only way to get the chance to meet and adopt Bear. (Regular adoption policies, fees, and procedures will all still apply.)
