Multimedia Coordinator - Job Description

Part time, hourly position with the potential to become a full time position.
Summary: The Multimedia Coordinator will work alongside the Social Media Coordinator to create timely, relevant, engaging content, and will be responsible for coordinating video content creation across all digital platforms, executing a data-driven social media strategy, moderating and responding to comments on all video-focused channels, coordinating promotion of pets and programs, staying current on industry/social media trends, assisting the Philanthropy & Marketing Manager with other fundraising and media campaigns.

Duties of the Multimedia Coordinator include, but are not limited to:
- Produce video/multimedia content for the shelter’s digital platforms (including Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, Instagram, Snapchat, TikTok, and website) from idea to finished product
- Coordinate with Communications Team to craft and manage social media strategy
- Design strategies that focus on the amplification of content (on relevant social channels) to the right audiences to achieve specific communications engagement goals
- Reliably communicate with Communications Team and other departments who may have multimedia project requests
- Focus on marketing through storytelling and sharing the great work that our team does
- Keep track of current trends, memes, etc. to create timely, relevant social media posts
- Keep track of social analytics to stay on top of latest algorithm updates/changes
- Must be able to interview people for stories and ask permission for use of photos, which can include members of the public, staff, volunteers, etc.
- Show diversity in all marketing materials and work to create content that is inclusive for everyone in our community
- Create video content for website (blogs, page updates, etc.) and special projects
- Increase shelter’s responsiveness to social media communications in order to foster and build relationships with our online community
- Host live videos
- Maintain brand standards and Southern Pines Animal Shelter’s values in your work
Multimedia Coordinator Qualifications / Skills:
- Passion for communicating through social media
- Proficiency with major social media platforms and social media management tools
- Proficiency with video and photo editing tools, digital media formats, and HTML
- Excellent social listening skills
- Top-notch oral and verbal communication skills
- Strong copywriting and copy editing skills
- Time management skills with the ability to multitask
- Detail-oriented approach with ability to work under pressure to meet deadlines
- Must be able and willing to work with animals independently
- Creativity and willingness to try new approaches and receive constructive feedback
- Self-starter who is able to work well independently
- Must be able to work in a crowded, busy environment if necessary
- Experience with Adobe Creative Cloud (Photoshop, Premier Pro), Canva, or equivalent digital media editing tools a plus
