UPDATE:
Beginning Thursday, Aug. 26th, all shelter visitors & staff are required to wear face masks while on the property.
As our community works together to help prevent the spread of COVID-19, Southern Pines Animal Shelter is still committed as ever to saving the lives of the animals in our care while also keeping public health and safety a top priority.
To that end, we continue to practice our thorough, daily sanitization protocols, a mask requirement for all visitors and staff, and social distancing measures to help keep our team members and community safe. |
Current Shelter COVID Guidelines & Info
Updated August 26, 2021
The shelter is welcoming visitors onto the shelter property...with a few new guidelines. To help keep everyone safe the following policies are in effect:
- At this time, face masks that cover both mouth and nose are required for all visitors and staff. We also ask that visitors and staff observe a 6-ft distance from other visitors in accordance with recommended social distancing guidelines.
- Visitors are welcome to walk around the outdoor sections of our kennels to meet and greet our dogs; however, the interior of the kennel building is still closed to visitors. Visitors may enter the cat and kitten cottages.
- At this time, we are limiting front lobby capacity to 3 masked people at a time.
- If you are exhibiting any COVID-related symptoms, please come see us once you’re feeling better.

Q: What is your greatest need at this time?
Foster homes! We need ready and willing foster homes who can keep pets for 4-6 weeks. The goal is to greatly increase our foster base in the event that a significant portion of staff are unable to perform their daily tasks. If you’re interested in fostering a pet, email us at [email protected].
Volunteers! Please visit our Givepulse page to find out how you can help our pets during this time!
Donations! If you cannot foster or volunteer, please consider donating. We need your help now more than ever to help us continue operations as normal and to provide all the essentials for the animals in our care. If you'd like to make a gift, you can donate toward their care HERE.
